A Luxury Casino Bowling Center With 72 luxury lanes, a stunning lounge, lively game room, private VIP suites, and a delectable snack bar, the lanes at Red Rock are right up your alley. Games & shoes available from 10 AM Drinks available from 12 PM. Plus the bar has $5 pitchers. You have more room to bowl and less morons screwing up your games. The bartenders are nicer at Suncoast also. Red Rock Casino is great for a lot of things. Bowling isn't one of them. (I was going to give Red Rock only one star, but I won the games so I had a decent time despite the putrid employees.).
Las Vegas has quite a few so called locals casinos, off the beaten path that are mostly frequented by Las Vegas residents and not tourists. Some of these casino hotels do get a fair number of tourists though, the better ones, and The Red Rock is certainly one of them.
Local gamblers in Las Vegas can play at whatever casino they want, and they also tend to have quite a bit of local knowledge, more than your average visitor for sure, and aren’t just moved by marketing and hype. So when the locals prefer to play at a site, that in itself speaks for the place.
The Red Rock is well off the beaten path, located in the affluent community of Summerlin, which was originally developed by Howard Hughes, and was named after Hughes’ grandmother Jean Summerlin. It is to the west of the city of Las Vegas, in view of the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation area, where the Red Rock gets its name from.
The Red Rock Resort Spa and Casino is the flagship property of Station Casinos, which owns a total of 20 smallish casinos around Las Vegas and elsewhere in the country. In spite of this being considered a locals casino, it cost almost a billion dollars to build, so this is far from your average smaller casino, and isn’t small at all in fact.
Red Rock opened in 2006 and the very same year it was renovated, doubling the number of hotel rooms. They are willing to expand it further, but have encountered difficulty getting the proper zoning, especially when it comes to the allowable height of its towers, which was originally planned to be higher, and they had to reduce the original planned height from 300 to 197 feet to appease the city.
Since then they are working on expanding the Red Rock further, and in particular adding two condominium towers, but the project has been put on hold due to the difficulty of getting it approved.
One of the features that stand out here is the crystal chandeliers, and the owners set out to add a touch of elegance and recapture the feel of the old Desert Inn. The Red Rock has more than 3 million pieces of Swarovski crystal costing $6 million.
They also have quite a collection of modern art here, and the rooms themselves are well decorated with paintings. Another of their signatures is palm trees planted on the façade near the roof, giving the place a real tropical feel.
The Red Rock also boasts the world’s most expensive bowling alley to build, with 72 lanes.
This is a beautiful property of very modern and elegant design which in itself can be said to be a work of art of sorts, and is far from your average casino off of the beaten path.
The Features of Red Rock Resort Spa and Casino
The Red Rock does have an 815 room hotel on the property, and a very good one at that. It has received the coveted four diamond award from AAA each year since it was built, and has also been named by Conde Nast as one of the world’s best new hotels.
The standard rooms here, either a deluxe king or a deluxe double queen, are spacious, between 515 and 615 square feet, and claim to have amenities like no other hotel room in Las Vegas, which is really saying something. You certainly don’t see marble bathrooms with a TV in it though, in standard rooms no less.
Guests can also choose a Signature Suite, with living space up to 2,065 square feet, a villa with up to 3,090 square feet of space, or one of their ultimate suites, including the two bedroom, 7,500 square foot One Eighty Suite, with a massive patio and incredible views of both the strip and the canyon.
The dining options here are first rate as well. The award winning T-Bones Chophouse specializes in cuts of dry aged beef and seafood fare. The Grand Café boasts gourmet food at café prices, and is open 24 hours a day.
The Feast Buffet was named the best buffet in Las Vegas for 2015, and features specialties from around the world. Hearthstone offers American fare cooked on wood burning ovens. Libre offers zesty traditional Mexican cooking. Salute provides traditional Italian food.
8 Noodle bar offers a fusion of various Asian cuisines. Lucille’s Smokehouse is on hand for fans of Bar-B-Que. The Yard House offers 100 different food items in a casual cocktail setting. The Bakery will take care of all of your pastry needs, and their in room dining will bring it all right into your lap as desired.
The Spa here is very modern as well, and very good, named as one of the top 100 spas in the world by Conde Nast. They also feature a hair and nail salon with the best manicures and pedicures in Las Vegas.
The nightlife at Red Rock is vibrant as well, with several of their venues offering live entertainment, as well as plenty of places to relax over drinks or dance the night away, as you prefer.

They also have a huge bowling alley, 16 movie theaters including IMAX, an indoor playground for the kids, and a championship golf course nearby. There’s lots to do here for sure.
The Casino At Red Rock
Of course, the thing that people at a casino resort like to do the most is play casino games. Red Rock features a good sized casino, with 87,000 square feet of gaming space.
Red Rock has won an award for best neighborhood casino, although it’s hard to imagine this being just a neighborhood casino and it’s almost not even fair to compare this place to other neighborhood casinos.
The casino here is state of the art, and perhaps the best thing about it is its rewards program. If you want to know why the locals love this place so much, you need to look no further, as players more in the know will prefer better rewards programs. The Red Rock’s has won the award for the best rewards program in Las Vegas 14 years running.
There are 2,700 slot and video poker machines here with they claim are the loosest slots in Las Vegas. Stakes start at a penny, and you can play up to $100 in one of their high stakes slot rooms. They feature both the latest slot games as well as the classics, with lots of promotions, and lots of big jackpots to play for as well.
Many of their video poker machines are full pay, meaning 100% payback, or very close to it, like 99.9% or 99.8%, and they offer the best payouts around for video poker.
This is also the place to be if you like to play double deck blackjack, which gives players better odds than games with bigger shoes. They also offer bonus craps here with some more player friendly odds than normal crap games.
You can also play Roulette here, as well as Pai Gow Poker, and Mini and Midi Baccarat. While they don’t roll out quite the number of different games like the bigger Las Vegas casinos do, what they do have is of high quality.
Red Rock’s race and sports book is one of the city’s best, with a 96 foot wall of monitors to stay on top of the action, and it’s also open 24 hours a day. They also use the latest technology to handle your bets quickly and correctly.
There’s also a 610 seat bingo hall and this is one of Las Vegas’ premier bingo halls and features some of the largest bingo tournaments around, in addition to their daily games and promotions.
Overall, the Red Rock Resort, Spa, and Casino may not be on a lot of tourist’s lists as far as places to gamble in Las Vegas, but it clearly should be.
